Kaze no Denwa by Itaru Sasaki (2010), is a disconnected telephone booth in Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. 風の電話, or the Wind Phone, was created by Sasaki in 2010 to cope with his cousin’s death. After the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, the phone booth became a public space for people to communicate with deceased loved ones.
